Sunsets in Ibiza near San Antonio
Sunsets that you can’t miss
One of the nearby municipalities to San Antonio, where some of our hotels are located, is Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, a land known for its crystal waters and Ibizan landscape of almond trees, pine trees and flowers. Accompanied daily by the beautiful sea sunsets, where the sun says goodbye until the next day dipping into the sea, as if it were her moment of relax and she was enjoying her swim in the immensity.
Sant Josep de Sa Talaia in Ibizan which translates as Saint Joseph of the Watchtower, offers many places to enjoy the last light of day, from mountains, cliffs and coves up to windows, towers or beaches. Renting a car is indispensable because the places I’m going to tell you about can’t be reached by bus.
Looking out to the sea you can find yourself sitting on a pier, on a stone or on the ground, the horizon on the background, Formentera to the left and the Peninsula to the right, not easily seen most of the time because the clouds and the sea merge whimsically making it difficult to tell them apart and blurring all the colours.
There are several very special places to watch the sunset a few minutes from the village of San José, in the nature reserve of Cala D’Hort. One of them is Cala D’Hort herself, after spending the day or the afternoon at the beach with the imposing rock of Es Vedra as a witness, there is no better way to say goodbye to the day than admiring all those changing colours.
Another much visited place, especially in summer, is the viewpoint of Es Vedrá, which offers three possibilities for watching the sunset. One of them is from the Pirate Tower as they call her and another is from the viewpoint down below, both accessible by car although you have to walk a little after parking. Some hippies live in the caves nearby and visitors are asked to access with maximum respect, no screaming, no littering, taking utmost care of the Eternal…
Some of the guests say that being able to see these landscapes is a real luxury, with Es Vedrá and Es Vedranell posing as models, seagulls flying in the fresh air, in silence, with the sea breeze, surrounded by pine trees and the horizon, You can’t ask for anything more. Every day is different due to the colours, the clouds or the horizon itself.
As well as sunsets, Sant Josep de Sa Talaia has secret places that you can discover on foot, by car, by boat or from the sky, on the top of a mountain where watching the island, as if a human panoramic camera it were, you can see how Ibiza goes to sleep and wakes up (you can see the sunrise in Santa Eulalia, where the rest of our hotels in Ibiza are).
